Commission policy and art status
Commissions are CLOSED. If you are interested in a commission, please email me at rusty.salamander at gmail dot com. Please put what your email is about in the subject line.
Commission policy: If you decide to commission me, please have reference images for the the character you want drawn (Or a thorough written physical description of the character) ready to send. Also, if you want your character to be in specific pose/location/etc. PLEASE include it with the reference information. Once I have an idea of what you want and have received payment, I'll do a preliminary sketch (or a few quick ones, so you can choose the one you like most) and submit it to you for approval. If you want something to be changed, please state ALL the changes you want made up front. You get one free redraw of the sketch and 2 rounds of minor corrections on commissions over $15. After that, I will charge a $5 fee for each round of corrections/redraws. I will do one round of minor corrections on images that are $15 and under, but no full redraws/major changes. Please remember that if a commission is priced under $15, I expect full payment before I begin. I reserve the right to refuse any commission, no questions asked.
Image usage: You may print your commissioned picture, display it on your own website (A link back to me would be cool, but not necessary). Please DO NOT SELL prints of the picture; yes, you paid for the image, but I still retain all rights to the image. Likewise, I will not sell prints of your image without your permission. When you commission me, you are also agreeing to allow me to use the image in my portfolio if I choose to do so. If you would not like the image to be displayed in any of my public online galleries, please let me know.
Samples and pricing
Sketches- $5 for simple digital sketches. Your choice of white/other solid color, gradient and/or texture background. I can add flat colors for $5 more or do simple shading for $10 more. Examples: 1 2 3 (Flat color) 4 (Simple shading)
Inked Line Art- $15-$20, depending on complexity. Clean, detailed lineart. Digital only. Examples: 1 2 3
Digital Reference Sheets- $30-$45, depending on complexity of subject and amount of detail shots. Will get you a full body profile image of your character, color swatches, info text, an alternate view of the head, a detail shot of a small area (Like eyes, accessories, etc.) if you so choose. Are usually flat colored, though I can do light, simple shading if you prefer. Examples: 1 (Lightly shaded) 2 (Flat colored)
Digital color- Starts at $30, price will go up depending on complexity, number of subjects, background, etc. Lineart or sketch is painted in either Painter 9, openCanvas 1.1, ArtRage 2, or Photoshop. Examples: 1 2 3 4
Payment is via PayPal ONLY (in US dollars). All commissions $15 and under must be paid in full, up front, more expensive commissions can either be paid in full up front or you may send me a deposit for half the cost before I start and the rest upon completion of the image. I will not start the sketch for the image until I've received either full payment or a deposit. What you'll get is the source file (Usually a .psd) at its original "working" size (Usually at 300 dpi, which is also a good setting if you want to print the image) and a high quality jpeg at a "for web" size (If you want a different file type or the image to be resized differently, let me know and I can provide it for you). Prints for digital pieces are available by request and the cost will be added to your commission's price.
